Something I Felt Like Sharing

October 7, 2008

Well, as I stumble around YouTube, I sometimes come across things that are very compelling. In recent interviews, Obama has said what a mistake it was to go into Iraq. Whatever your opinion on it, you have to watch this video. The video was not paid for by John McCain or any other politician or political group. It was made by the person in the video and his family friend. Enjoy!

MySpace and the Vice-Presidential Debates

October 2, 2008

Well, I decided to try something new. Instead of relying simply on the cable news channels, I decided to take MySpace up on their invitation to watch the debates online. I find it fascinating that technology has found a way to grasp the youth and get them involved in politics. After all, the new generations are less likely to take an interest. What a great way to get them thinking and interested in voting.

Why has the Christian community abandoned it? I still haven’t heard any valid arguments for why churches and pastors and teachers and preachers avoid MySpace. They still insist on hiding behind their holy huddles. How very sad.

The debate was interesting. I’m not so sure who won right now. All you get from T.V. is “Biden won” from Obama supporters and “Palin won” from Palin supporters. I think there are issues that both sides bring to the table. But I believe in traditional marriage. I applaud Palin for taking a bold stand on her beliefs. I can guarantee that it’s going to be the political chopping block for her on that one.

Leaving in less than 3 days. I hope all my former students and families are having a wonderful school year! I pray for all of you everyday.

The Anzanite Gets Political

September 5, 2008

Alright folks, it’s time I made a few comments about some observations I have made over the past 2 weeks with the 2 conventions. I must say, both sides are really good at using pretty words. I think a lot of it is fluffed up (from both sides of the issue) and I wonder if both campaigns are turning in to nothing more of a spectacle. Besides that both sides lash out at eachother, the media its self is working double time to try and destroy and change what they call “the Bush Regime” (MSNBC).

They are trying so hard too! I read an article by a woman who was accusing McCain of teaching her child about premarital sex because of the announcement that Palin’s daughter is pregnant (you can read the article at http://www.alternet.org/sex/97320/how_my_7-year-old_learned_about_pre-marital_sex_from_john_mccain/). In the article she states: “Seeing this “Breaking News” on TV when trying to catch news of Gustav and the Republican Convention, my son immediately asks me “But how can she be pregnant if she isn’t married?” and “Does a girl get pregnant every time she has sex with a boy?” Thus ensues the revelation that sex is possible before marriage, and how condoms and birth control pills can prevent pregnancy and HIV.” Are you kidding me? If I remember correctly, not to long ago, every cable news channel was reporting on the pregnancy of Jamie Lynn Speers. As a matter of fact, I watched the report on ABC 7 Los Angeles and later on the Fox 11 News at 10 the day the story broke. It was all over the place! Furthermore, it was all over the radio. But, it’s all McCain and Palin’s fault that her 7 year-old learned about sex? I think we have worse things to worry about that a teenager that got herself pregnant and decided to take responsibility for it. That to me is the rare thing–that her and her “man” are willing to accept the responsibility it will put on them.

I think McCain is really a good guy, but I sometimes wonder if his campaign is working to hard promoting his war hero status and his Vietnam Prisoner of War history. It’s almost like they want America to pity him so they will vote for him. Now don’t get me wrong, I think he has done great things–and will do great things as a president, but I think the fact that American people have at tend to act on emotions doesn’t give a political party the right to exploit that.

At least with John McCain; whether you are for the war or not; has told us where he stands. Obama has called for the troops to come back from Iraq. Yet last night on Fox News told O’Reilly that he thinks it worked and is working. Hmmm, not sure if I can trust him. I have other reasons as well. Check out this YouTube video produced by the National Campaign Fund.

I’m not going to tell you who to vote for. I am not going to tell you who I am going to vote for. I just had to comment about the state of things. I loved Palin’s comment to the media about how she doesn’t work to please them. Now, the media is trying to say that she is anti-free speech. My, how they take things out of context.

Pray fervently before you vote. Let God lead you in the right decision. The media claims there is a lot at stake in this election (MSNBC, FOX, CNN, ABC 7). There very well maybe. Please don’t stay silent. If you are not yet registered, go do it and voice your opinion. That’s what makes this country great!
